The Lawrenceville Alliance team realized how blessed we are and wanted to share with others. We came together as a team and collected food for the Southeast Co-op just before Thanksgiving.
As I entered the building I was heartbroken by the number of folks waiting to receive food and the small children sitting on the floor waiting very patiently for their parents to collect their groceries. They reminded me of small birds in a nest waiting for their moms to feed them as they chirped quietly. I realized even more how blessed we are. My grand children do not have to wait to see if there is going to be enough food for them to have a meal because it is always available for them. Not so for the children waiting. I overheard the staff saying they did not know if they would have enough to feed everyone waiting. I could not even imagine having to turn someone away because there was no food for them.
When you have time, stop by your local food bank and see what they might be able to use and provide a meal for a family in need. If you can provide food think about volunteering and helping them sort and package food for those in need.
